In Butterfly, local storytellers divulge their experiences, passions, fears, and loves. Then some of Vermont’s finest improvisors take the stage to bring those previously unknown stories to life. You’ll laugh. You might cry. At the very least, you won’t be eating Bon Bons on your couch alone.
In this introduction-level class, students will be introduced to the core concepts of musical improv over 8 weeks, culminating in a performance showcase for friends and family.
You'll learn the basics of writing comedic sketches, focusing on rapid idea generation and collaboration. This hands-on and practical approach allows you to get an idea from your head to the stage in as few steps as possible, because the only way to really know if an idea works is to try it out and get feedback. You'll practice writing sketches in different formats - including character, commercial parodies, and topical sketches. Students will be expected to write sketches outside of class.
Jenna Emerson is a local improviser and sexuality educator, so why not combine the two? Local professionals will give sexpert advice based on YOUR questions about sex, sexuality, and relationships. Then improvisers will perform scenes based on your questions and sexual experiences. This show will be one part sexy, one part educational, and all parts FUN. Bring your Tinder dates, sweethearts, and moms for an evening of comedy that will definitely give you wet dreams.
